On March 8, 2012 Seattle Design Center hosted the 13th annual NW Design Awards honoring design professionals in the Pacific Northwest, including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Western Canada, and Alaska. Alicia Brewin, principal designer of local design firm Alicia Interiors was presented 1st and 2nd place in the Best Kitchen Design category.
First place was awarded for a Port Angeles kitchen designed for a young family with an active lifestyle and two 6-yr old daughters, one in a wheelchair. Collaborators include Jesse Bay Cabinetry, Anton Schmidt, Richerts Marble & Granite, and Jim Petrie Tile, all executing great craftsmanship in this unique project. Second place was awarded for a new home construction in Port Ludlow featuring a stunning panorama of the Hood Canal. The Maryland couple's new Northwest residence appropriately showcases outdoor beauty while prioritizing indoor form and function. Collaboration was by Charles Smith of Lindberg & Smith Architects, offering his expertise and experience to this beautiful new home.
To ensure impartial judging, the distinguished jury panel was selected from outside the Pacific Northwest region. Judges took into consideration proportion, composition, use of space, lighting, materials, and appropriateness for each entry.
